I was wondering just now, should someone be blamed for being shallow?

Is being shallow something someone develops, or is it something that we are born with, in our genes perhaps?

Is being shallow a kind of selfishness? As in, can shallowness be controlled? Eliminated?

Or is shallowness more of an ego trip?

At what point does someone develop this self value? If you can call it that.

I dont know if i am getting my point across.

I guess you can look at shallowness almost like a prejudice, then that person is an asshole.

But do things change if someone does it out of self respect? As in, “I can do better”

Are people brought up thinking like that?

I dont know, i am just throwing out questions. I will definetly keep you guys posted, as soon as i find my answers.

I thought about this but in regards to snobbery. So much to think about…

Yes, do keep us posted!

yes, people should be blamed for being shallow. Being shallow is a vain attempt at self improvement in order to receive more attention from one’s peers. It is contemptible, and, pardon my french, fucking stupid.

Shallowness, whenever possible, must be encouraged. I can think of few things more appalling than our culture’s emphasis on depth.

So what are you saying Alfred? Do you want a world full of quasi-robots who only do what’s popular in order to look good to their peers?

A genial, unforced shallowness is infinitely preferable to a pained, painful show of depth.

I’m not opposed to a robot uprising – it’d mean I’d be blithely singular in my humanity. Then, in their search for novelty, the quasi-robots would follow me and I’d have my very own group of minions all without having had to raise a finger. We could start an international competitive croquet league and I’D ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH HURRAH!

Alred, its only painful if you have nothing to show, which apparently is the case for you.

Hurray!
